Blood + 1

Wow...what can I say? Well the introduction was really sweet with its fight scenes. I wonder who that girl was that was slashing all the soldiers in half...her eyes are what fascinated me the most. Gah what a creepy look! There was so much blood and gore...now I know why this anime is called Blood +. Next scene, there are two girls named Saya who was practicing high jump and her friend Kaori who was cheering her on. Haha when I saw Saya pull Kaori onto the mat, I was expecting some yuri action, but I guess I was wrong. Apparently the reason why she knocked over the bar was because she wasn’t at full strength since Saya was hungry.

Next, there are bomber jets flying over the school and for a second I thought they were going to bomb Saya and Kaori, because there were a couple of strange men watching them from a car. Kaori explains how the jets are going to go to war in Okinawa, and her mother is working on a base. After we get a little indication about Saya’s life, saying how she doesn’t remember what happened a year ago. Kai comes and picks her up, and takes her to the hospital where the sensei asks if any memories were returned to her. Sadly no.

After when she comes home, Saya realizes that she left her shoes at school, and goes to look for them. A strange man named David, comes and speaks to her father, well actually we find out that Saya is just a replacement for his dead daughter. When reaching the school, Saya finds a guy standing near the tree that she believed is where her shoes are. However once she reaches it, some strange man that she saw earlier playing the cello stops in front of her holding a knife. Obviously she starts screaming so a teacher comes out from his office, but once he is done checking the area a Chiropteran attacks and kills him. Saya ends up getting saved by the same creepy celloist, but is he a friend or a foe? If it wasn’t for his face, I swear he isn’t human because his hands are way too creepy. Well he sucks the blood from it and kisses Saya, as her mouth tastes the blood, memories began flooding back.

An amazing first episode, I feel bad for Saya because she has such a mysterious past, and the people around her seems to keep the truth away from her. As for the celloist, does anyone know if he is a friend of a foe? The animators don't really reveal much about him, except he is a creepy pedofile.

  • This episode was great. I had just finished watching and blogging Honey & Clover and kicked into this. BIG DIFFERENCE! I loved those action scenes at the beggining - really set me up for a little bit of horror.

  • I should mention that the guy was playing a cello not a violin since violen are not huge.

  • Newt- Yea this episode was great...haha but this still doesn't beat Honey and Clover...not yet anyways. :P Yea the fight scenes are amazing, I had so much trouble picking the screen caps for it, even though the introducion lasted for 2 mins!

  • Phoenix- haha your right, I was never good at distinguishing instruments apart. Hmm shall I name him the Cello-ist? Oh thanks again for helping me...took me quite awhile to figure out what was going on, but then when I clicked on your list, I finally understood.

  • That celloist needs a name, stat. In my draft post I ended up calling him "the dodgy busker dude" and then went ahead and changed it to "musician". I had NO idea whether it was a cello, bass, or flute, or whatever. Heehee

  • Haha for future reference..I am going to call him creepy, playing celloist, pedofile that sucks blood! Geez..he could've told his name to Saya since it seems like they knew each other from the past.

  • If they don't give him a name next episode, I'll go ahead and make one up. I'm leaning towards "Fred". ;)

I wonder what their connection is from the past?

  • I hate it when they don't give out names right away and you have to make up something out your head to refer to them. Like in Black Cat, if they hadn't said Sven's name in the preview, I was gonna have to call him "eyepatch hat guy" or something the whole time. lol

    "Dodgy busker dude" lol

  • Haha KT Kore...you should hear the cute pet names Newt and I have for him! For example, at first I called him Violinist, then I changed it to creepy playing celliost/pedofile! Newt suggested that we name him Fred, but then I came up with Rico Suave. So basically its Rico Fred Suave the fourth. LOL

  • Rico Fred Suave the Fourth, now thats a name one can be proud of. Heh heh. I swear if they go ahead and give him a name I'm always going to think to myself "hey it's rico!!! yay!" It's stuck now.

  • His name is Hagi.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 3:10 AM

  • Haha yea I know his name is Hagi...but for Newt and I, it will always be Rico Fred Suave the fourth. The name Hagi disappoints me for some odd reason. So next post and such its going to be Rico, but I will try and adapt. :P
